Pol-e Sorkh Media

Fortunately, I Established Pol-e Sorkh Media in the Winter of 2024

Pol-e Sorkh is an independent media outlet that began its work with a critical and responsible approach. As an exiled media platform based in Germany, it is dedicated to supporting democracy, advocating for justice, upholding human rights and universal values, and combating discrimination. Through a cultural lens, Pol-e Sorkh challenges dominant narratives in Afghanistan by logically addressing issues related to women’s rights, ethnic, religious, and intellectual minorities.

Pol-e Sorkh is a free media platform that firmly believes in and adheres to democratic values and the professional ethics of journalism. It will never serve as a platform for ethnic nationalism, historical supremacy, totalitarianism, or religious extremism. On the contrary, it will take well-thought-out steps to defend freedom, equality, and enlightenment.

We saw a gap in the cultural and intellectual landscape—a missing platform that could promote pluralism, defend public interests, and bridge the divide between the center and the marginalized. With this perspective, we established a media outlet that opposes radicalism and advocates for enlightenment.

The content of Pol-e Sorkh consists of articles in various fields, including education, literature, cinema, psychoanalysis, media and communication, academia, minorities, and more. Beyond being a think tank for Afghan intellectuals in exile, Pol-e Sorkh is a non-political media platform. We believe that most Afghan-related media outlets focus on immediate events, publishing sensational news and often overlooking deeper issues. However, Afghanistan’s challenges must be examined with a cultural approach, prioritizing processes over events to foster deeper analysis.

Thus, we are a group of independent journalists inside and outside Afghanistan, voluntarily working to shape an effective discourse for change—one that critiques dominant social and cultural narratives through the lens of culture. Additionally, we strive to amplify marginalized voices and provide a platform for untold stories within Afghan society—stories of communities whose voices have not been adequately represented.

For this reason, Pol-e Sorkh’s vision is broad, and it approaches Afghanistan’s issues from a distinct and unique perspective.
